William Gleason Obituary, William Gleason Of Bath Dies At Age 76

William Gleason Obituary, Death – William L Gleason, 76, of Bath, died suddenly at home. His parents, Laverne and Alfreda Ferguson Gleason, and his only sister, Brenda Gleason Schroeder, predeceased him.

Bill grew up in Bath and attended Haverling, where he rose to prominence as an unlimited-weight wrestler. Bill worked hard most of his life, beginning as a paperboy in high school, then in the old Babcock Ladder Factory, and, for many years, at Phillips Lighting.

Bill used to enjoy traveling to auto races and camping in the Catskills with his pals when he was younger. He was an ardent reader and storyteller who, as he grew older, mostly kept to himself. He adored the Buffalo Bills and always dressed appropriately on game day.

Bill never married, but he adored his golden dog companion Sarah. Sarah, he said, was wonderful for him since she made him go for walks around the neighborhood virtually every night. When Sarah died a few years ago, she took a large piece of his heart with her.

Bill recently had nearly daily visits with his cousin Corky (Carlton Gleason) and a few other acquaintances over a cup of coffee at Dunkin Donuts. Bill also maintained contact with his Florida aunt Mary Jane Kinney and his cousin Thomas Kinney. There are no scheduled calling hours or services at this time. Bond Davis Funeral Home in Bath is handling the arrangements.
