Before he was even born, both of his parents had already passed away. He was an only child. Some of the people who continue to carry on his legacy include his wife, Lyudmyla Hurska (Dombrovska), his daughters Yelena Tkachuk (Mikhail) and Oksana Khoma, his grandchildren Diana Obermeyer, Daniel, Anthony Tkachuk, Ivan Pokhylchuk, and Adrii Khoma, and his sisters Antonina and Luba.
