Suzanne Padgett Obituary, Death – Suzanne (Sue) Padgett, who lived in Lawrence, Kansas, died on April 16, 2023. She was born on March 7, 1934, in Kansas City, Kansas. She was the firstborn child of Florence J. Summerville and Ward W. Summerville, as well as their first child overall. Sue graduated from Shawnee Mission (North) High School in Merriam, Kansas in 1952.

She subsequently went to the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas, where she was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma social sorority and served as President for a year. Sue earned her bachelor’s degree in 1956 from the University of Kansas. On December 23, 1957, she married Gary W. Padgett, a native of Greenleaf, Kansas. Three children were born as a result of this marriage. Pamela Sue Padgett, Bradley K. Padgett, and Brent R. Padgett are the names of three people.

Her mother, father, and brother, Ward Summerville Jr., died before her, as did her daughter Pamela Sue Padgett. Her husband, Gary W. Padgett, her sons, Bradley K. Padgett and Brent R. Padgett, and six grandchildren survive her. Her husband preceded her in death. Sue was a Director at The Citizens National Bank, where she also established and was a founding member of the Friendship Club. Sue was quite involved in the Greenleaf neighborhood as well as other civic activities.

The Warren-McElwain Mortuary, located at 120 West 13th Street in Lawrence, Kansas, will hold a viewing on Wednesday, April 19th from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Greenleaf, Kansas, at Thursday, April 20th at 11:00 a.m., followed by burial at the Greenleaf City Cemetery in Greenleaf, Kansas.
