Susan Padgett Obituary, Death – Suzanne (Sue) Padgett died on April 16, 2023 in Lawrence, Kansas. She was born on March 7, 1934, in Kansas City, Kansas. Florence J. Summerville and Ward W. Summerville had her as their firstborn child, as well as their first kid overall. Sue graduated from Shawnee Mission (North) High School in Merriam, Kansas, in 1952.

She went on to attend the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas, where she became a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma social sorority and served as President for a year. Sue earned her bachelor’s degree in 1956 from the University of Kansas. On December 23, 1957, she married Gary W. Padgett, a Greenleaf, Kansas native. Three children were born as a result of this union. Pamela Sue Padgett, Bradley K. Padgett, and Brent R. Padgett are the names of three people.

Her mother, father, and brother, Ward Summerville Jr., died before her, as did her daughter Pamela Sue Padgett. She is survived by her sons, Bradley K. Padgett and Brent R. Padgett, as well as six grandchildren. Her husband passed away before her. Sue was a Director at The Citizens National Bank, where she also formed and served on the Friendship Club. Sue was very involved in the Greenleaf neighborhood and other community events.

The Warren-McElwain Mortuary, located at 120 West 13th Street in Lawrence, Kansas, will hold a viewing on Wednesday, April 19th, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Greenleaf, Kansas, on Thursday, April 20th, at 11:00 a.m., followed by burial at the Greenleaf City Cemetery in Greenleaf, Kansas. In Sue’s memory, donations can be donated to the University of Kansas Endowment Association (KUEA) in Lawrence, Kansas. These memorial contributions should be delivered to Warren-McElwain Mortuary so that they can be processed.
