Sandra Decker Obituary, Death – At the age of 78, Sandra L. (Strasbaugh) Decker, a resident of Spring Grove, Pennsylvania, passed away at WellSpan York Hospital on May 30, 2022. She was a devoted wife to James G. Decker, and the two of them celebrated more than 57 years of marriage together. Sandra was the daughter of the late David V. Strasbaugh and Barbara E. (Hoke) Strasbaugh. She was born in York on November 1, 1943. Her parents both passed away.
After more than 27 years of service as a teacher in the Spring Grove Area School District, she took early retirement in 2004. Sandra was an active participant in the activities offered by the Windy Hill Senior Center, the Spring Grove Women’s Club, and the Spring Grove Area Historical Preservation Society. In addition, she was a longtime member of Trinity (Roth’s) United Church of Christ in Spring Grove, where she also served as a Sunday School teacher, a member of the choir, and a member of both the Guild and the Brotherhood. In addition to reading and gardening, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren, Sandra loved spending time with these activities.
Sandra is survived by her devoted spouse James, as well as her children Todd Decker of York, Brian Decker and his wife Pamela of State College, and Sharon Zortman and her husband Gregory of York; as well as her grandchildren Alex, Olivia, and Zachary. In addition, she is survived by her brother Gerald Strasbaugh and his wife Carolyn, who live in Virginia; her sister Jeanne Baublitz and her husband Raymond, who live in Glen Rock; her sister-in-law Brenda Glassick, who lives in York; and a large number of nieces and nephews.
