Roger Caldwell Obituary, Death – After a protracted battle with numerous health issues, Roger Caldwell passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 25, 2023, at his home in Rush Springs, with loved ones by his side. In East Saint Louis, Illinois, Roger was born to Alice and Roger W. Caldwell. He retired from his position with the United States Postal Service after 28 years of service.
In 2008, he wed Gaye, his real love. Gaye and he had been married for 19 years. They enjoyed visiting relatives, watching Oklahoma football, bringing their granddaughter fishing, and going to St. Louis Cardinals games. Roger raised chickens and played golf in his free time. Roger belonged to Delta No. 425, the Grand Masonic Lodge of Tulsa. He spent many years transporting kids to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital in Shreveport, Louisiana and was also a member of the Tulsa Akdar Shrine.
Roger had a big heart and a soft spot for children. Ben and James Mitchell were two of the many kids he adopted in Claremore, Oklahoma, and raised until they were adults. After retiring, he and Gaye co-parented their granddaughter Brianna. With all of his children and grandchildren and all of their accomplishments, Roger was ecstatic. Many people will miss his generous and friendly nature.
Roger’s wife Gaye Caldwell of the home, granddaughter Brianna Furry, grandson Noah Wright, step-son Donald Robinson, son Caleb Caldwell (Kris) of St. Louis, MO, daughters Chelsea Watson and Ahnna Caldwell of Swansea, IL, foster child James Mitchell, and granddaughters Ashlyn Cross, R.J. Watson, Camden Watson, and Alexis survive him. Roger’s foster son Ben Mitchell, father Roger W. Caldwell, sister Cheryl Paridon (Tim), brother Richard Caldwell, step-daughter Susan Robinson, and step-brother Robert all predeceased him.
