Richard Cass Obituary, Death – On April 24, 2023, Claremont resident Richard “Pudgy” Cass, 76, died quietly. William and Anna Cass had Pudgy on August 19, 1946. 1964 St. Mary’s Catholic School graduate.
Mechanical engineering at Claremont Vocational Technical College followed high school. He worked until retirement. Pudgy became a Golden Cross Ambulance dispatcher after a brief retirement.
His favorite working years were those 15 years. He enjoyed working, people, and helping the community. He was a lifetime American Legion Son.
Pudgy married his soulmate Dona in 1978. They had fun together. Long travels around New England, exploring nature, and sampling local eateries were their favorite activities.
Pudgy loved his family most. Pudgy and Dona have 5 kids. Family memories are happy. Long nights at Claremont Speedway, annual family trips, and Sunday dinners at home are among their favorite recollections.
He appreciated supporting his grandchildren’s passions. The sidelines and bleachers were occupied for hours. They’ll miss Bampi’s counsel, but they know he’s always with them.
Pudgy was loyal and liked. He did anything for his loved ones. Racing fostered his closest friendships. He raced most weekends. His sons and grandchildren loved racing.
Pudgy is survived by his wife Dona and his five children: Brandi Cass-Chambers and her husband Rick Chambers, Wendi Belisle and Greg Belisle, Travis Cass, Pete Cass and Stephanie Cass, and Candi Cass and Timothy Teeter.
He was a cherished Bampi to his nine grandchildren: CJ Gosselin, Hannah Carpenter, Kelsey and Luke Belisle, Emma, Anna, Allison, and Owen Cass, and Aiden Teeter. Caroline Carpenter was his only great-granddaughter.
Pudgy’s family appreciated Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center’s treatment.
On Sunday, April 30, the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street in Claremont, NH, will host visiting hours from 1 to 4 PM and a prayer service at 3:30 PM.
