Richard Brasington Obituary, Death – According to Missouri officials, a 71-year-old man who was known as one of the country’s greatest doctors drowned while fishing in the Ozarks. According to Missouri State Highway Patrol investigations, Richard Brasington died on April 30 after drowning while fishing in the North Fork River in Ozark County.
According to troopers, he was wading in the river around 10 a.m. when he disappeared underneath for unclear reasons. His body was pulled from the river around 2:15 p.m. Brasington, according to Memorial Hospital, was a “nationally and internationally known clinical rheumatologist.” Brasington was a native of St. Louis. Brasington joined the specialty clinic team of the hospital in Chester, Illinois, in the year 2022. According to the hospital, he had been named to the list of “America’s Best Doctors” “for a significant amount of time.”
Brasington also worked as a faculty member at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, where he started in 1996. In 2015, he was recognized with the university’s Distinguished Educator Award. “Medical students say Brasington’s passion for teaching and talent for providing pivotal career advice set him apart,” the college said at the time. “Brasington’s enthusiasm for teaching and ability to provide critical career advice distinguish him.” “Students honored him with two awards for Clinical Teacher of the Year as well as two awards for Distinguished Service Teaching.”
Brasington’s fellows honoured him with the Dr. Richard Brasington Mentorship Award in 2019, making him the first recipient of this honor. According to Lacey Feigl-Lenzen, who worked with Brasington at Washington University, “words can’t describe” the impact Brasington has had on the field of rheumatology. “Dr. B was a champion of rheum education and patient care,” Feigl-Lenzen says, “whether among the faculty, fellows, or staff.”I consider myself really blessed to be able to call him a friend.
