Randolph “Randy” Obituary, Death – Randolph “Randy” Seiler, 76, of Ft. Pierre, South Dakota, passed away in the Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls. On Monday, April 24th, there will be a visitation from 5-7pm at the Pat Duffy Community Youth and Involved Center in Ft. Pierre, followed by a prayer service at 7:00pm.
The funeral ceremony and burial will both take place at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 25 at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Pierre. On the day of his service, the services will be live streamed on this page for those who are unable to attend.At the Mobridge Hospital, Randolph John Seiler was born on July 7, 1946. LaVaun Seiler and Matt Seiler were his parents. In Herreid, where Matt ran the movie theater and gas station and LaVaun worked for the USPS, Randy and his younger sister Kutzie grew up.
In 1964, Randy graduated from high school and enrolled in Brookings’ South Dakota State University. Randy enrolled at the University of Nebraska–Omaha because he was passionate about serving the public, and he earned a B.S. in criminal justice there in 1973. He earned an honors degree from USD Law, was chosen to serve as Editor-in-Chief of the South Dakota Law Review, and was voted by the faculty as the class’s most outstanding graduate. Before moving back to Mobridge in 1981 to work as a partner in a private law business, Randy worked as a law clerk for the U.S. District Court.
