Oscar Lopez Obituary, Death – The patriarch of the Lopez family, Oscar Moreno Lopez, died at the age of 93. Before leaving in 2010 to become the company’s chairman emeritus, Lopez served as chairman, chief executive officer, and chairman emeritus of Lopez Holdings Corporation, as well as First Philippine Holdings Corporation, which he led for almost 25 years.

First Philippine Holdings was led by Lopez after the Lopez family recovered assets lost during the Marcos regime. Lopez is credited with guiding the business from near-bankruptcy to viability and leadership. He oversaw the company’s transition from power distribution to other business ventures like manufacturing and real estate development.

He was renowned for implementing initiatives in corporate social responsibility, corporate governance, and business excellence. He also created the “Lopez Credo,” which functioned as the corporate mission statement for the Lopez Group of Companies. He thought that the group’s main motivation for existing was to help the Filipino people.

Additionally, he served as chairman of the Lopez Group Foundation, chairman and president of the Eugenio Lopez Foundation, which oversees the Lopez Museum and Library, and a director of ABS-CBN Corporation, a subsidiary of the Lopez Group. Eight of his children, including Federico “Piki” Lopez, chairman and CEO of First Philippine Holdings, are still living, along with a number of grandkids.
