Mary Vagle Obituary, Death – Mary Ann Vagle, age 73, passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2023, at her home, surrounded by her family. She was a superb caregiver and was always there for her children, grandchildren, and siblings.
She will be greatly missed by her many friends and family. She was an attractive woman who made others happy wherever she went.
Mary Ann’s parents, Steward and Shirley (Brown) Scobey, welcomed her into the world on January 11, 1950, in Danville, Illinois.
On January 9th, 1971, she wed Stephen Vagle. Brad (Jen), Joe (Heather), and Amy Scott, three great children, are the results of her marriage.
Mary Ann is survived by her children, Conner Vagle, Vanessa Vagle, Devon Scott, Alex Vagle, Hayden Vagle, Alyssa Scott, Jessie Vagle, Bryant Vagle, Mason Vagle, and Ethan Scott, as well as her brother Mike (Kathi) Scobey, sisters Cathy (Danny) Gherna and Jane (Tom) Verry, and ten grandchildren.
Her ancestors Howard and Helen Brown, Lola Taylor (Ira), Edward Scobey (Bertha), grandchild Cole Vagle, and ex-husband Steve Vagle all predeceased her. Her parents, Steward and Shirley Scobey, also did.
Mary Ann loved to read, explore new places, learn about her family history, and spend time at the beach. When she was with her family, she was completely content. She was a remarkable lady, and we shall carry her spirit with us always.
According to her wishes, there will be no memorial or funeral service. Donations to the American Cancer Society are welcome in lieu of flowers.
