Mark Morton Obituary, Death – As a consequence of hearing that Retired Chief Mark Morton passed away on Friday, April 28, 2023, each and every one of us is experiencing a condition of enormous and profound sorrow. The information has all of us in a state of disbelief. The year 1995 marked the beginning of Chief Morton’s career in the fire protection sector.
At that time, he was a member of the Jackson Fire Department working as a fireman. After that, for the next 22 years, he worked for the department continuously. After that, he kept working his way up through the ranks, and at the beginning of the 2000s, he was given the position of Chief of the Jackson Fire Department.
After that, he got to work climbing the corporate ladder to a higher position. Chief Mark Crain took over from Chief Morton as the person who is currently in charge of the department in 2011 after Chief Morton had retired. Chief Morton has been in the job from its inception till his retirement in 2011. Mark Morton was presented with the opportunity to assume the role of Fire Chief of the City of Jackson permanently when Chief Crain made the decision in 2013 to stand down from his position as Fire Chief of the City. Chief Morton served in this capacity up until 2017 when he made the decision to end his career with the police department and resign.
