Marisa Maleck Obituary, Death – Unexpectedly, Marisa Maleck, who was a partner in both our Data Privacy & Security and Appellate practices, passed away. She works on litigation, regulatory issues, and public policy, with a concentration on technology, e-commerce, telehealth, digital health, consumer goods and services, independent marketing organizations, and cannabis. Her areas of expertise include these topics.
Ms. Maleck’s practice offers a one-of-a-kind combination of appellate, investigative, litigation, regulatory, corporate, and government engagement knowledge. This allows her to craft individualized solutions for our clients who are looking for direction in situations when there is no road map. Ms. Maleck has a wealth of experience in representing clients in legal situations concerning consumer privacy, data sharing, consumer fraud, defamation, unfair competition, personal injury, and wrongful death claims. Her concerns are frequently intricate and need outstanding writing, smart thinking, and the construction of compelling narratives.
Ms. Maleck has handled hundreds of lawsuits in multi-district litigation, dozens of commercial litigation matters, a lawsuit brought by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), and more than ten actions brought by state attorneys general in her time as a senior counsel at a vaping company and in private practice. Marisa has been successful in drafting and/or arguing hundreds of appellate briefs and important motions in multiple matters, including class actions and complex litigation, before the United States Supreme Court, federal and state courts of appeals, and federal and state trial courts.
