Lockdown At Park Lakes Elementary After Gun Found On Campus

LAUDERDALE LAKES, FLA. (WSVN) – The elementary school of Park Lakes was placed on lockdown when a firearm was discovered inside the backpack of a pupil; nevertheless, the lockdown was removed just before 11 o’clock in the morning.

At approximately 9:15 in the morning on Tuesday, deputies from the Broward Sheriff’s Office arrived to the location after receiving the report from the school, which is situated at 3925 North State Road 7 in Lauderdale Lakes.

BSO issued a statement that said the lockdown had been lifted and that deputies had made contact with the student. The statement also indicated that the student was contacted by the deputies.

“Deputies made contact with the student and the child’s father, who stated that he accidentally placed the weapon in the wrong bag,” a portion of the statement read. “The student admitted that he had done so.” Accordingly, charges are being brought against the father. Following an exhaustive search of the campus, the loaded gun was discovered, and it has since been taken into custody. Officials at the school claim that there were no threats made against the institution itself or its employees.

The cops have taken several persons into custody. Their identities have not been made public at this time.

There have been no reports of any injuries.

Alongside the deputies from the Berkeley Sheriff’s Office, the facility and staff of the school are collaborating to ensure the pupils’ safety.
