He devoted every waking second of his existence to the possibility that he could make the lives of those who were in close proximity to him better.
During the more than 20 years that he spent serving as pastor of our Zion church, the Reverend Dr. John Q. Owens was a kind father to the people who were a part of our congregation. He was known as “The Rev.” there was in addition to the tasks that he was already required to complete in his job as a pastor, thus there was a new expectation placed upon him. During this extremely difficult time, it is our most sincere hope that Former First Lady Dr. Dorothy Owens and her family may be able to find some measure of solace in one another’s company. We send our deepest condolences to the Owens family. At this juncture in time, it is of the utmost necessity for them to be able to depend on one another and provide support for one another.
Bible verse: Revelations 14:13 is the relevant verse in the Bible. Immediately after that, I had the distinct sense that I heard a voice from heaven saying to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.’ ” “Yes,” says the Holy Spirit, “that they may find rest from their labors, and that their works may follow them.” [S]o that they may find rest from their labors. [In order] for them to be able to find relief from their labor. [In order] for them to be able to find some respite from the efforts that they have been exerting. [In order] for them to have the opportunity to take a break from the laborious work that they have been carrying out so far.
