John Darcy Obituary, Death – On April 20, 2023, John Dennis Darcy, 73, of Fitchburg, Massachusetts, passed away.
We mourn the loss of our much loved brother, father, and grandfather.

His sons Sean Darcy, Tim Darcy, and his wife Suong, and Kyle Darcy and his partner Imaris Antonetti will carry on Denny’s legacy. His grandchildren Benjamin Darcy, Keaton Darcy, and Blake Darcy; his sister Kathy Mackiewicz and husband Mitch; his brother Michael Darcy and wife Natalie; his brother Rod Darcy and wife Pam; his brother James Darcy and Patricia Dillon; his brother Kevin Darcy and wife Anne; his brother Paul Darcy and wife Brenda; his brother Bruce Darcy and wife Ann Bernard; and his brother Paul Darcy and wife Brenda.

His son, Keith Patrick Darcy, as well as his parents, Roderick and Ellen Darcy, have all passed on before him. Denny served in the United States Navy for two years between 1967 and 1969 before being discharged with honor.

Dennis attended St. Bernard’s High School, which he graduated from in 1967, and lived in Fitchburg his entire life. He enlisted in the Navy and worked in a variety of capacities for a number of companies after getting out, including Selig Manufacturing Co., Seaboard, Demoulas, Digital Equipment Company, and Compaq (where he was most recently employed as a warehouse specialist).

His life revolved on sports, and he was a longtime supporter of and volunteer coach for Fitchburg’s biddy league basketball. After his playing career in the city softball league ended, he stayed involved in the sport by becoming an umpire. He was a huge supporter of the Boston teams (Red Sox, Patriots, Bruins, and Celtics).

The committal chapel at the Massachusetts Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery is located at 111 Glenallen Street in Winchendon, and a memorial and interment service will be performed there on August 21, 2023, at 10:00 a.m.
