Jesse Rush Obituary, Death – Jesse Allen Rush, 79, of Anamosa, IA, died on Friday, April 21, 2023, at 6:44 p.m. at his home in Fairfield, IL. Allen Rush was born in Fairfield, Illinois, on July 19, 1943, to Jesse and Betty (Kenshalo) Rush. He graduated in 1961 from Fairfield Community High School. He married his true love, Barbara (Farmer) Rush, in 1963, and she died in March of 2012.

Allen began his 43-year career at FS/Growmark in Fairfield. He worked briefly as an Assistant Manager in Mt. Vernon, IL, before shifting to Anamosa, IA, where his leadership talents earned him the job of Chief Executive Officer for the Linn-Jones County Company. Allen spent the rest of his career in Anamosa, where he served on the Anamosa Community Hospital Board, the Chamber of Commerce Board, the Church Deacon Board, and the Pastor Search Committee.

In 1978, he was named Outstanding Citizen of the Year by the Jaycees of Anamosa, Iowa. Allen spent many happy days working on his farm in Southern Illinois in his senior years. Allen is survived by his beloved girlfriend Connie (Atteberry) DeWeese of Hilliard, OH, his daughters Debbie Dooley of Marion, IA, and Dena (Calvin) Himes of Monticello, IA, four grandkids, and his loving companion Connie (Atteberry) DeWeese of Hilliard, OH.

Travis (Tiffany) Dooley of Marion, IA, Calee (Mark) Cecconi of St. Paul, MN, Coree (Mike) Hicks-Takes of Monticello, IA, and Shilecy Dooley (Anthony) of Cedar Rapids, IA, four great-grandchildren Jonathan Dooley, Emee Himes-Luensman, Dean Norris, and Anthony Campbell, his sister Marjorie (Michael) Simpson and his brother Jim (Brenda) Rush both of Fairfield, along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, and special family of Scott, Yon, Luke, Brooke, and Dani DeWeese.

His parents, wife Barbara, and a sister and brother-in-law, Kathryn and Larry Bunting, predeceased him. Allen Rush’s funeral will be placed on Saturday, May 13th at 11 a.m. at the Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home in Fairfield, IL. The funeral home will be open from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, May 12th. Allen’s body will be cremated following the funeral services, and his ashes will be placed at Koontz Cemetery in Fairfield at a later date.

A memorial service will be held in Anamosa, Iowa, at a later date to be specified. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Wayne County Senior Center in Fairfield, which will be accepted by the funeral home, Johnson and Vaughn.
