Jane Hanley Obituary, Death – Jane Hanley, 74, passed away on Wednesday. She was the daughter of the late John C. and Jane M. (Plunkett) Barr and was born in Pittsburgh on November 27, 1944. Madison Hanley, Jane’s grandchild, and Barbara L. Thompson, her sister, also predeceased her in addition to her parents.
She attended Penn Hills High School before attending the Indiana University of Pennsylvania to obtain her education degree. She worked as a second-grade teacher before having children. She returned to teaching as a cherished preschool instructor at Murrysville Presbyterian Church after all of her children had graduated from school.
Her steadfast faith helped her get through dealing with her own health issues and caring for her son Brian following his accident. Her three devoted children, Brian Hanley, Deanne (Greg) Bauer, and Janene (Chad), as well as her nine grandkids, Cameron and Brandon Hanley, Connor, Brendan, Jack and Brynn Bauer, Ryan, Aidan, and Lauren Clark, survive her. She was married to Larry (Lawrence P.) for 54 years. John C. Barr, Jane’s brother, is still alive.
Visitation hours are from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, at Murrysville’s HART FUNERAL HOME INC. The funeral home will host a blessing service on Friday at 11 a.m. There will be a private funeral.
