James Cummins Obituary, Death – James A. “Jim” Cummins, 70, of Eldorado, died quietly at home on Monday, May 1, 2023, surrounded by his family. On August 2, 1952, he was born to the late Raymond (Red) and Opal Cummins. On June 8, 1974, he married Connie, his lifelong love, who survives him.
Throughout his life, he enjoyed playing the guitar, going to the farm, and spending summer vacations with his grandchildren. Jim enjoyed the outdoors, was a skilled carpenter, and was an exceptional woodcarver. He taught his daughters to look up at the stars, but more importantly, he always encouraged his family to take time to enjoy the simple things, because they are what matter the most. Jim married Connie, his high school sweetheart whom he had loved faithfully for nearly 50 years.
They had a strong, admirable, and honest marriage. Many people adored him, but none more so than his family. Jim served as a lab manager in nearby coal mines before retiring from SGS Coal in 2017 after 40 years of service. Jim’s two daughters, Carrie Jo (Jimmy) Sisk and Katie (Chad) Albers, survive him. Kaleb (Chandler) Williams.
Molly Williams, Jack Bruce, Tucker Bruce, River Sisk, and his three great-granddaughters, Taylen, Stella, and Stevie Williams, are among his five grandchildren. His brother, Danny (Linda) Cummins, survives him, as do several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Rev. Aaron Phelps will officiate at the funeral ceremony on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home in Eldorado.
