Ernie Barrett Obituary, Wildcat Legend Has Passed Away

Ernie Barrett Obituary, Death – Ernie Lee Barrett, who was 69 and from Liberty, died at his home on Saturday, April 20, 2023. He was born in Jackson, Kentucky, on January 13, 1950. His parents, Vernon Barrett and Julia Combs Barrett, both died before he was born. He went to Connersville High School and got his diploma in 1969. Ernie quit his job at Connersville Utilities when he was 62 years old.

He belonged to the Sons of The American Legion. Besides that, he was a part of the New Heights Church of Christ. He liked to ride his Harley a lot. He also liked to spend time with his family and sing karaoke. Ernie was known for being very competitive, and he loved both playing sports and teaching them throughout his life.

He is survived by his longtime girlfriend, Tammie Pitcher; five sons, Douglas (Myra) Barrett, Jeremiah (Nancy), James Michael (Danielle), Steven (Jennifer), and Matthew Barrett; a sister, Faye (Jim) Bennett; two brothers, James (Sandy) Barrett and Fred (Nancy); eleven grandchildren, Lauren, Kylee, Ryan, Mia, Emma, Harlee, Ava, Ella, Brett, Clayton, and Ja

On April 23, 2023, from 4 to 8 p.m., people will be able to say goodbye to Ernie at the Urban-Winkler Funeral Home in Connersville. On, at 11 a.m., the service will be held at the funeral home. His cousin, Reverend Leon Barrett, will lead the service. Dale Cemetery is where the body will be buried.
