Eric Ransom Obituary, Death- The news of our brother, Detective Eric Ransom #461, having passed away last night has left us in a state of profound grief. After graduating from the Essex County Police Academy in 1994, Detective Ransom started his career as a member of the law enforcement community.

with the Nutley Police Department. Detective Ransom was reassigned to the Woodbridge Police Department in 1999, where he worked in the radio patrol division. Later on in his career, he was given a position with the Juvenile Aid Bureau, which is where he worked as a detective for the majority of his career. Since that time, he has become known as the Junior Police Academy’s “face,” since he has been the primary drill instructor for the institution for more than ten years. In addition to his leadership of multiple boys’ and girls’ organizations at the middle school and high school levels, he is a key figure in the North Jersey Young Marines Organization.

Additionally, Detective Ransom was a veteran who served his nation for a combined total of 38 years in the United States Marine Corps and the United States Army.
Everyone in the department will miss Detective Eric Ransom terribly. He was a respected member of this community and gave a great deal of thought and effort to assist teenagers and young adults in any manner that he could. Don’t worry, Detective Ransom; we’ll handle everything from here on out. I am grateful to you for your service, which was unselfish. EOW 04/19/2023. He was a wonderful person who, over the course of his career, made a positive impact on the lives of a multitude of people, most notably the young people in our community. I pray that you rest in peace, war. During this difficult time, I want his family to know that my thoughts and prayers are with them. Keep watch over the Pearly Gates until you are released from duty and be sure to say hello to Chesty. He stood out as a truly remarkable example of the human race.
