Debbie Schamper Obituary, Death – On Monday Schamper (née Buitenwert), 73 years old and a resident of Holland, passed away. She possessed a natural talent for handicrafts, and she enjoyed ceramics, quilting, and other crafts so much that she kept a kiln in her home for many years.
She had a passion for antiquing and constantly added new elements to the stunning Christmas Village that she displayed every year; it eventually stretched for more than 30 feet. Her ideal place to be was by the water, and she enjoyed the times she got to spend with her family at the lakeside home she owned in Grand Haven and out on the water on their boat.
Her grandkids were the bright spots in her life; whether she was overcoming her aversion to heights by going zip-lining with Ashleigh or baking with Jack, she always made time for them. She would ask Logan what he had eaten the previous day, for example.
She is survived by a large number of cherished friends and family members who will remember her. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and she will be sorely missed by all of her family members. Sandi is survived by her husband of 54 years, David; Sons: Steve and Shawn, and their son Jackson; Shaun and Melissa, and their children Logan and Ashleigh; Brother Allan and Debbie Buitenwert; Brothers-in-law: Rick and Terri Schamper, Terry Schamper, and Diane Roels; and a large number of nieces and nephews. Sandi also leaves behind many cousins and other relatives.
