Craig Wilson Obituary, Death – Craig Douglas Wilson, 45, of Nashville, Tennessee, died unexpectedly on March 23, 2023. Craig Wilson was born on November 17, 1978, in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, to parents Philip and Donna Wilson. Craig grew up in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, where he was a member of the local swim team and discovered his love of music.
He began playing the guitar and piano at a young age, and by the age of sixteen, he had already issued his first solo record. Craig attended Grosse Pointe South High School, where he was a member of the show choir and studied voice under the late Dr. Jennifer Barnickel-Fitch, who Craig considered to be a sister. After graduating from high school, Craig enrolled in Western Michigan University (WMU) in Kalamazoo, Michigan, to pursue a degree in Musical Theatre Performance.
Craig appeared in a number of shows while at Western Michigan University, the most notable of which was Pippin, in which he played the main character. After four years, he dropped out of Western Michigan University to pursue his ambition of becoming a rock star in New York City. After moving to New York City, Craig began appearing in musicals, including a workshop for the musical Starmites and a performance of The Baker’s Wife alongside Stephen Schwartz and Joseph Stein.
In addition, he appeared in a Central Park performance of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night by the Prospect Theatre Company. Craig, in addition to his acting profession, continues to compose, produce, and perform original music at a variety of renowned spots throughout the city. Among these are Rockwood Music Hall, The Bitter End, The Red Lion, and CBGB. He collaborated with many talented musicians and artists, and he made friends with everyone he encountered. Craig began traveling to Nashville on a regular basis while still residing in New York to create and produce music.
Craig decided to go to Chicago full-time after spending several years alternating between Nashville and Chicago. He developed, produced, and performed his own individual music during his nearly decade-long stay in this town. Craig was dubbed “the mayor of Nashville” by his coworkers since he knew almost everyone in town. Craig realized his aim of becoming a rock star by writing and recording a series of songs that charted on the Billboard Hot 100 and performed at venues and arenas across the country, including the Grand Ole Opry, Bridgestone Arena, and Madison Square Garden.
Craig was a natural-born songwriter who had spent his entire life honing his trade. He was born with the ability to write songs in his blood. He has dedicated his entire career to rooting for the underdog and has an extraordinary ability to see the best in others. He was regarded throughout the industry for being an exceptional connector who could make friends everywhere he went. He was the driving force behind every song he wrote as a songwriter, and he made his mark on every project in which he was involved. He was always aware of how to help an artist establish their unique voice. He was sincere in every area of his behavior.
He possessed an extraordinary ability to say the right thing at the right time in order to encourage and stimulate others around him. He was a fantastic friend to all of his followers and a kind leader. He gathered a large group of people and formed a one-of-a-kind community bound together by his generosity and friendship. His death will be felt by everyone who knew and cared about him, as well as those in the music industry.
Philip and Donna Wilson, Craig Wilson’s parents, died before their son. Perry will be greatly missed by his brother, relatives, classmates, co-writers, and an incalculable number of friends and acquaintances.
