Carmen Miller Obituary, Powell River BC woman dies in fatal car accident

Carmen Miller Obituary, Death – Carmen Miller died on April 18, 2023, from injuries sustained in tragic car accident at Gritman Medical Center, surrounded by her daughters. She was the second of four children born on June 1 in Moscow, Idaho to Donald and DeMaris Childers (Carscallen).

Carmen graduated from Moscow High School in 1981. After high school, she married John Ihm of Moscow, and the couple had three amazing daughters, April (1982), Lacey (1984), and Michelle (1987). Carmen earned her cosmetology license after attending Mr. Leon’s and Paul Mitchell’s schools. She worked as a hair stylist for many years before retiring in the early 2000s. She went on to work at Aspen Park and SEL before being forced to retire early due to her infirmity. Carmen met Mel Miller in the late 1980s and married him in Moose Creek on the Selway in 2008.

Carmen spent many years camping in the beautiful Idaho panhandle with her friends and family. Carmen was an excellent cook, and her own creations never failed to impress her guests. During football season, Carmen can be seen at the Corner Club with many of her lifelong friends cheering on the Dolphins with a beer (or two). She also had a lot of success with her weekly Lewiston Tribune football picks, winning a tie-breaker game against 26 other 16-0 people. She discovered her sewing skills after retirement and began making gorgeous blankets for friends and family.

Carmen is survived by three siblings, Kevin Childers (Cindy), Carla Williams (Guy), and Craig (Butch) Childers (Shawnia), three daughters, April Ihm (Aaron), Lacey Ihm (Allen), and Michelle Ihm, and two adorably darling grandchildren, Aurora and Levi Beplate. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she was a proud ‘Nana’. Carmen’s parents, Donald and DeMaris, as well as her lifelong partner Mel Miller, died before her.
