Billy Jones Obituary, Death – On Tuesday, April 25, 2023, Billy F. (Fred) Jones, a resident of Logan, West Virginia, who was born on March 22, 1936, passed away in his home at 87 Everett Street.
Fred Jones was born in Logan, West Virginia, to the late Arlie and Irene Jones. Wilma Dempsey Jones, his devoted wife of many years, joined his parents in the hereafter.
Robert F. Jones, his brother from Huntington, West Virginia; Tracy Dempsey, his brother-in-law; Mildred Napier and her husband Dennis; Gwendolyn Newsome and her husband Roy; and his aunt Linda Wallace from Clearfield, Kentucky; all survive him.
Fred is also survived by his many nieces and nephews, including Dr. Jennifer W. Jones of Cornelius, North Carolina; Dr. Gregory (Toni) Jones and daughter Madison; Dr. Stephanie (Brad) Carman and children Hailey (Tyler) Newell and Hayden Carman of Marietta, Ohio; Dr. Brian (Allison) Jones and sons Isaiah, Austin, and Grant of Wellington, Florida; Dr. Misty (Greg) Browning and children Baylee And a very wonderful and devoted friend from Whitman, West Virginia named Peggy Sue Adkins. Several of Fred’s cousins and their families are still alive and well.
In addition to his long membership in the Masons and the Beni Kaden Shriners, Fred served in the United States Air Force. For many years, Fred managed the produce department at the A & P Company in Logan, West Virginia, where he worked as a grocery store employee.
He has worked as a sales representative for both auto dealerships and companies that supply the coal mining industry. Fred loved to bowl, but his favorite pastime was simply being with his wonderful friends and family.
Jeanine Berry, Karen, and Chris Evans, Fred’s caretakers, have our deepest appreciation. We appreciate Sam Doss, his neighbor and friend, for all he’s done for us over the years.
On Friday, April 28, 2023, at 1 PM, Pastor Joaquine Ooten will preside over funeral services at Akers-James Funeral Home. The next step is to be interred in the mausoleum at Highland Memory Gardens. On Friday, the funeral home will be open from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
