Aurelia Ramirez Obituary, Death – Aurelia “Shorty” Ramirez, 81, of Brady, Texas, died in Shannon Hospital in San Angelo, Texas, on April 21, 2023. Shorty, as she was fondly known by family and friends, was born on November 12, 1941, in Melvin, Texas, to Edward Sandoval, II and Juanita (Torres) Sandoval. Melvin was her hometown, and she graduated from Melvin High School in 1961.

She was a basketball player who loves sports. She married Felix Ramirez in Melvin on August 24, 1962. She worked at the Heart of Texas Pharmacy for many years. She then worked as a teacher’s aide at Northward Elementary School for 19 years until retiring. She grew up a huge sports fan, cheering on the Brady Bulldogs, Texas Longhorns, and Dallas Cowboys. She enjoyed arts and crafts as well. She belonged to the Brady Ladies Sorority. She was an expert gardener who could grow almost anything. She liked to cook and tend to her roses. She was a member of the Guadalupanas and attended St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, where she sang in the chorus. She had spent her entire life in Brady.

Shorty is survived by her loving husband of more than 60 years, Felix Ramirez; daughter Melinda Baker and husband Alan of Bridgeport, Texas; brother Edward Sandoval, III of Ft. Worth, Texas; brother-in-law John Greene of Richardson, Texas; grandchildren Austin Baker and wife Brittney of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Mason Baker and wife Sidney of Bridgeport, Texas; great-grandchildren Alina Baker, Emma Baker, and Andy Baker; nieces Julie Greene and Her parents and sisters Rosa Sandoval and Mary Ann Greene predeceased her.

Father Terry Brenon will officiate at Aurelia “Shorty” Ramirez’s Christian Burial Mass on Thursday, May 4, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Brady. The family will meet visitors from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, prior to the church Mass.
