Annette Thomas Obituary, Death- On Friday, April 21, 2023, Annette Taylor Thomas, a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, was ushered into the presence of her Lord and Savior after being called home to be with him.
Annette Huggins was born in Corinth, Mississippi, on April 12, 1949. Her parents, Alonzo Huggins, and Betty Bowen Taylor have since passed away. She attended The University of Mississippi, where she became a member of the Delta Gamma sorority and went on to become a dedicated alumna of the organization. She furthered her education by attending Mississippi College, where she eventually earned a Master’s degree.
She went on to have a successful career in education, during which she was a classroom instructor and a mentor to thousands of kids in Clinton and other area school systems. She was an enthusiastic supporter of efforts to raise awareness about breast cancer and a member of the Bosom Buddies of Clinton support group. She was also an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Clinton, Mississippi.
She looked forward to spending time with her sons and grandchildren, as well as attending innumerable ball games, and she cherished the time she had to spend with her family. Annette was never afraid to strike up conversations with complete strangers because she enjoyed making new friends wherever she went. Gardening, riding bikes, and going on day trips to Pickwick were among Annette’s favorite things to do in the great outdoors with her friends and family.
Her nephew, Collin Parker Counce, who was her last living relative, passed away before her along with her parents.
She leaves behind her devoted husband of 53 years, Larry Thomas; two sons, Matt Thomas (and his wife Amanda) of Clinton, Mississippi, and Neal Thomas (and his wife Jerrie Ann) of Madison, Mississippi; five grandchildren, Nathan, Hayden, Case, Elise, and Ella; siblings, Lon Taylor (and his wife Teresa), Kim Smith (and her husband Scott), Carole Counce (and her husband Mike); and dozens of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
On Monday, April 24, at 4:00 p.m., there will be a celebration of her life held at the First United Methodist Church in Clinton, Mississippi. The visitation will take place from 2:00 to 4:00 PM prior to the service. On April 25, at 11:00 AM, there will be a service held at the graveside in the Henry Cemetery located in Corinth, Mississippi. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to be sent to Bosom Buddies of Clinton, which can be sent to 216 Concord Drive, Clinton, Mississippi 39056; or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, which can be found online at stjude.org.
