Aaron Hernandez Obituary, Death – Former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez died at the age of 27 Wednesday morning after killing himself in his prison cell.

According to Michele Steele of ESPN, the Massachusetts Department of Corrections has issued a statement announcing Aaron Hernandez’s sudden away.

A representative for the Massachusetts Department of Corrections later told the Associated Press (via the Boston Globe) that he was unaware of any suicide note being left at the scene by Hernandez. This information was provided after the event.

Odin Lloyd, a semi-professional football player and gardener, was slain in 2013, and Hernandez was serving a term of life in prison without the chance of release for his crime.

Hernandez was murdered just five days after he was found not guilty of murdering Safiro Furtado and Daniel de Abreu outside of a Boston nightclub in 2012.

The murders took place in 2012. Christopher Fallon, a spokeswoman for the Massachusetts Department of Correction, was quoted as saying that Hernandez was not on suicide watch by Aimee Ortiz and John R. Ellement of the Boston Globe.

The Bristol, Connecticut, native spent three seasons with the Patriots after getting picked in the fourth round of the 2010 NFL draft out of Florida.
